Plea: IKEA at Steelyard Commons?
The Cleveland Leader has a post up begging a local city council to do whatever it takes to bring an IKEA to Cleveland’s Steelyard Commons. Since it’s a just a plea for a store I won’t get into the pro/cons of the proposed site, but I will say it does have a nice location on 71.
I’m betting though it will be a few years at least before IKEA is looking at Ohio land again, and even then I’m not sure they’ll put one that far north. Call it a hunch.
I also imagine they won’t want to cannibalize the Pittsburgh store since I’m sure that Clevelanders are a large portion of that store’s profits. Or heck any of the other store’s profits too. I mean, once the West Chester store is up, pretty much most of Ohio will be within 2 hours of an IKEA between the stores in Pittsburgh, Detroit and Cincinnati.
